Learning by building! 3C took a hands-on approach to learning about one specific simple machine (the wheel and axle). Students built their own race cars and tested them out.
If you build it, they will learn! My third graders have been studying forces in science class. They were given the task of designing a bridge. Then they had to test the strength of their design by adding force. The lesson learned: Failure is a success! By observing where their bridge "failed" they were able to redesign it to make it stronger.

2E had fun in math today! We learned about which tools are best for measuring different lengths.
Mrs. Trentman's 2B did a fun Mystery Science lesson on erosion called What's strong enough to make a canyon? We used cornmeal, salt, and water to find the answer.
Fifth graders have been learning about Earth's place in our solar system. We finished our study, and as an ending activity, 5A and 5B scientists created a model of the solar system by painting and decorating planets and other extraterrestrial objects accurately. The models look great hanging in room 62!
Basketball on our minds! In 5A and 5B yesterday, students reviewed how to multiply and divide fractions using a game of basketball. They had to be fast at computation and great shots to win.

Remember the Book Fair starts tomorrow and continues through the 18th. the fair will be open from 4:30pm-8:00pm on the 11th. The ice cream social will be from 6pm-8pm on Friday the 11th of March. Hope to see you there
