
Can we create something new through chemical reactions? 5B & 5D students mixed various substances together to see which combinations made new things. Science is messy and fun!


8th graders during Latin Wednesday worked with Mis/Mit (to send) by transmitting their definitions and words across the room. Omit happened to be omitted which required an intermission from the activity to retrieve the omitted word.

3A and 3C learned about the concept of multiplication by using Froot Loops and Goldfish.

Concert at MTHS-The Prairie Wind Ensemble will be performing at MTHS on Sunday, 10/16 at 2:30pm. The concert will feature guest conductors Mike Golemo (Iowa State University) and John Jost (Bradley University).

Did you know that we have a sensory corner in the music room? It’s called “The Rest Corner.” 2nd-8th grade students may use it anytime and they can self monitor themselves.



3A and 3C worked on their graphing skills today by creating a class picture graph.



2B students answered the Mystery Science question, "Could you build a house out of paper?" Using index cards and paper clips we discovered how to make paper structures taller than 12 inches and then strong enough to hold many books!

8th graders had some great experiences investigating Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and Logistics today!





The Cross Country team competed in Sectionals today and brought home some hardware! The boy’s team finished 1st overall and advanced to the state meet next weekend. Zach Born finished 1st overall and is the individual Sectional Champion. Great job Redbirds!




8th graders are exploring careers in education and training.





8th graders were given the opportunity to explore Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources.





8th graders were also allowed opportunities to investigate jobs in Government, Law, and Public Service.

MTHS Band Day is coming up fast! On October 8th, from 1pm - 9pm MTHS will be hosting 27 bands from all over the state in competition. Free Admission for all band students wearing their Avenger shirts!
