
Fore! In honor of the Summer Olympics, student engineers in 5th grade designed and created models of mini-golf holes. We learned about Newton's 3rd Law of Motion as well as the history of golf in the Summer Olympics. After the engineers finished building their models, we played a round of mini-golf, giving everyone the opportunity to try out each one.


Metamora Area Business Association will be grilling up pork chops on Friday May 24th at Metamora Kirby Foods! Come out from 11am-2pm and get lunch!


As we approach the last days of school here is a reminder of our final days:
May 22nd - Kindergarten's last day of school
May 27th - No School Memorial Day
May 28th - No School Teacher Inservice
May 29th - 1st-7th grades last day of school with early dismissal at 11:20

Attention future kindergarten families: If you have not registered your child for kindergarten yet, please contact the office by 5/22 if possible. We are holding screenings on 5/23 & 5/24 and would like to see as many students as we can. Registration will reopen on July 9th - please email secretaries@mgsredbirds.org if you are unable to complete registration this week.


Yesterday was day 3 & our final day in the DC. area. We visited Mt. Vernon, MLK Jr. Memorial, FDR Memorial, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum & ended at Dave & Busters before heading home. We had a whirlwind of a few days but saw so much!


Second day in D.C. yesterday did not disappoint! Our group got to see the presidential motorcade leave the White House, the inside of the White House, WWII Memorial, Capital Building, Library of Congress, the Constitution & Declaration of Independence at the Archives & a ghost tour in Alexandria! We are exhausted, but it's so worth it!


Fantastic, busy first day in D.C.! We
visited the 9/11 Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Iwo Jima Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memorial & the Vietnam Memorial. And now we are off to the White House & more today!


MABA (Metamora Area Business Association) held a fundraiser for the MGS playground at The Room in Metamora. They raised $1609! Thank you to all those that attended and thank you to The Room for hosting this MABA event!


Reminder: TOMORROW is FUN DAY for K-4th grade students. Kids should dress for the weather and play. Optional FUN DAY shirts can be worn! Please send your student with a water bottle and apply sunscreen before school.


Thanks so much to the Jr. High Band for performing at graduation last night. You sounded great!





Reminder! Cheerleading Pre-Tryout Parent & Athlete meeting is tonight in the MGS cafeteria at 6pm! Tomorrow is the last day to sign up to tryout!!

The final totals are in! Fifth graders held a coin war to raise money for basketball hoops/accessories for the new playground. They raised an amazing $1,102.34! Way to go!

The Band and Guard put on an awesome assembly yesterday! MGS was Rockin'! Special Shout OUT to our guest conductor Mr. Myers!


On May 20th, Illinois Prairie library will open registration for our annual Summer Reading Program. Challenges are open to readers of any age, from birth to adult and we encourage families to sign up for our program together. Please see the flyer for further information.



MGS 5th grade student Secilia Staab sold her homemade key chains and figurines to raise money for the Playground. She raised $337 ! Thank you Secilia!!
